gifts for men turning 50
What to get a man who has everything?

I’m trying to come up with something unique for our wedding officiant who is the owner of the company I work for. He’s somewhat wealthy so in turn he pretty much has anything he wants at his fingertips. What do you get a man who has everything? I thought I had it… name a star after him! What a great idea! Then I read a bunch of websites that say all the sites selling star naming rights are bogus and that no one can officially name a star as they claim. It’s still a cool idea and I honestly doubt he’d ever know it’s not official. One site even says “it’s a sentimental gesture” which it really is and technically it is “registered” somewhere just not in that big astrology book of stars as the sties make it appear to be. I’m tempted to pay the $50 for the certificate because I really thought that was the greatest gift idea for him but I honestly don’t think I could fork out that kind of money for a fancy piece of paper.

Does anyone have any other ideas of really unique gifts?

I’ve always felt those “name a star” companies are a complete waste of money, bogus or not. I’d rather see you make a charitable donation in his name than name a star after him. At least the money will do some good.

For someone who has everything here are some suggestions:
* Get him something that just came out that he’s unlikely to have: new gadget, book, etc.
* Get him something easily returnable.
* Charitable donation.
* Consumables (e.g. good wine)
* Gift certificate
